Green Valley Event Rentals Inc. is a locally owned event rental business based in Guelph-Eramosa Township. Since 2021, we’ve supported weddings, community events, and family milestone celebrations. We’re known for our friendly customer service and well-maintained inventory. We support families, community groups, and local businesses while promoting sustainability through reuse of rental items. The business is owner-operated, with a strong focus on customer experience and hands-on operations.

This position is based in Ontario and subject to the Ontario Employment Standards Act, 2000.

About the Role:

As an Event Rental Operations Assistant, you’ll work hands-on with a small team to prepare, organize, and provide rental items while gaining experience in logistics, customer service, and small business operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning and maintaining inventory to ensure items meet quality standards

  • Preparing and organizing inventory for upcoming events (packing, sorting, checklists)

  • Inspecting returned rental items for quality, damage, and completeness

  • Assisting with delivery, setup, and arrangements of event items based on client needs

  • Greeting clients and providing guidance on safe use of rental equipment

  • Identifying safe and efficient ways to improve workflow and reduce manual labour

  • Complete additional tasks as needed (e.g., organizing inventory, updating simple spreadsheets, or assisting with basic social media content), based on business needs, timing, and individual strengths

You will develop skills in the following areas:

  • Customer service and communication

  • Inventory management and attention to detail

  • Event logistics and coordination

  • Time management and organization

  • Problem-solving and process improvement

  • Exposure to small business operations and client relationships

Who is a Good Fit for the Role:

As this posting is for a Canada Summer Jobs program, the candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period

  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and

  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

The ideal candidate is interested in hands-on work and learning by doing. They should be:

  • Reliable and detail oriented

  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team

  • Comfortable with moderate physical tasks (detailed below)

Additional Notes:

  • Work is completed on-site in Oustic, Ontario (Guelph-Eramosa Township)

  • Flexible, supportive work environment with training provided

  • Open to applicants with limited work experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift and carry up to 40 lbs unassisted on a regular basis (e.g., dance floor tiles, linens, small décor)

  • Participate in two-person lifts for heavy or awkward items up to 125 lbs (e.g., whiskey barrels loaded onto a truck)

  • Load and unload a cargo van or trailer, including lifting items to truck bed height

  • Push and maneuver loaded carts — including over grass, gravel, and uneven outdoor terrain

  • Bend, kneel, and crouch repeatedly during setup and tear down

  • Stand and walk for the majority of a shift

  • Work in various weather conditions including heat, cold, and rain
